Critical thinking is the usage of knowledge and data to effectively solve problems. Collaboration learning allows me to distinguish information, promotes through thinking and communication skills. Using collaboration, I often learn more from others and construct meaningful knowledge to better learning outcomes than individual work. Doing teamwork helps me a lot in learning more from others. For example, building up ideas help me solve problems and learn more among others. As a result, working together will not only help me learn but it also helps me understand everyone,s opinion and use it as a guideline to solve problems. On the other hand, working alone sometimes is kind of hard to figure out the solution you are working on. Furthermore, paying attention and being curious requires you to want to know more, hear more, think more being curious leads me to learn more and paying attention helps me to know more by listening to what I am hearing. On the contrary, open-minded skepticism is about being open to changing your mind in light of new evidence and about being open to constructive criticism and new ideas to be closed-minded. Individuals are more likely to be open-minded when they believe they are making an important decision. To conclude, I learn more by working with a team because it allows me to gain more knowledge and have high skills.
Based on our previous class conversations and readings , I think I am in the stage of commitment because I passed the stage of relativism . In the past I didn’t like to be challenged . I didn’t want to change my opinion and I just thought what i think is always valid based on my experience . After few years , I felt that I got more mature and
I realized that not all thinking is equally valid . I was not only open to hear from other’s experience but I also made decisions based on reasons and evidence that I was open to change my point of view afterwards . Now , I understand that everyone can make mistakes . Everyone is cable to think in a certain way then change opinion based on evidence and listening carefully to others . That’s what makes someone a good critical thinker and that’s why I felt I became more mature listing some areas of strength such as understanding the links between ideas , determining the importance and relevance of arguments and ideas , identifying errors in reasoning and reflecting on the justification of our own assumptions , beliefs and values .
I think I’m in stage 1, becauce i often make decision without deep thinking, and follow what others opinions when i didn’t think about it and find the evidence to prove it. I think the 2 areas of strenth of the good critical thinker is they have great analytical skills which means when they find out a problem they won’t make any decisions or opinions. They will think first, and find the research to support the conclusion. Also, the Open-minded Skepticism, which means when they looked at others thinking, they might have different opinion about it but it’s not just suspect base on their konwledge. It’s base on the turth of the supprting evidence. To try to find out what’s right or what’s wrong. i think I should not make any decisions or opinions before i deep think and find the ecidence about it. Everything come up with strong evidence and critical thinking.
In critical thinking the one I consider myself is Stage 3 Commitment. The reason why I can relate to stage 3 is because I know that not all thinking is the same I understand this because people have different opinions and different ways of viewing things. Also being open to challenge is good because you can base your opinion due to the evidence. A good critical thinker is open minded also are neither optimistic or pessimistic but are simply realistic also can’t be judgemental they will listen to both sides and analyze it carefully until they come to the best decision. Another good characteristic of critical thinking it’s being obsertive because in order to analyze and be able to make a decision you first have to observe and pay attention to their surroundings. Critical thinking takes a lot of analyzing and logic having to do things independently can be a growth for critical thinking.
I feel that I am between stages 2 and 3, but mostly towards stage 3. I say I am both stages since sometimes I can be up for a challenge with having my views change but then I have this small piece of me that will just close out on the idea of having someone else challenge my ideas. One main characteristic of a Good Critical Thinker I have are Collaborative Learning which is being able to be a team player, effective communication and learning from my peers. Another main characteristic is Research and Inquiry skills by seeking questions, answers, exploring problems and transferring my knowledge. Even with these two main characteristics I have I also have some faults that can downgrade me from being a good critical thinker. Sometimes my curiosity can get the best of me to where I am not being mindful of everything else.
Based on our class conversations and readings, I feel that I am in Stage 3 : Commitment because even though I can strongly believe in something when I’m passionate about a view point I stand by it and I Can have evidence to back up my reasonings but I am very much open to any views that can have me question wether my point is valid , I am aware that I am not always right and when someone makes A valid point wether it goes against or it proves my point I Acknowledge that view point .One characteristic I believe goes hand in hand with that is Open minded Skepticism because I am very much open to new idea’s , opinion’s and facts I may question it sometimes depending on the situation but I am still aware of other people’s idea’s because It may end up benefiting me , As well as collaborative Learning such as working in groups or with another person you combine different idea’s that helps one another out.Two areas for growth I would say is Research and Inquiry skills because being honest I am not a great researcher I don’t take my time and I end up losing focus , I tend to skim through when researching so it is not as effective , another I would say could improve in growth is my Effective Communication which I am trying to work on I just like yo shut down and when things get hard I just like to be my myself and I don’t ask for help even when I need it because I don’t like to rely on people , Id rather get through things on my own sometimes I am going to work on these two things by taking my time , putting more thought into my research instead of just glancing through and my effective communication is improving more and more everyday by me just saying what is on my mind instead of holding it in until I explode .
Based on what we’ve discussed in class I think I am in the commitment stage of critical thinking because I used to base all my opinions and even argue facts because of what I’ve experienced in life and how it affected me. One characteristic that is my strength is analytical skills because I’m always very observant in everything especially when I’m in a new environment or learning something. One of my other strengths would be effective communication because I’m always focused on the speaker or in a situation I’m in at the moment. Being able to understand the person I’m conversing with is my strength as well as keeping the conversation going. For example if I don’t understand something I always ask questions Onee area I see growth in is creative problem solving, i usually come up with better solutions when I am in a team and not alone. I can work on this by putting myself in other peoples shoes and try to think what they would do differently then me. Another area of growth is research and inquiry skills because sometimes one can research so much and still not be satisfied with the outcome. I can work to address this skill by making sure every fact I get I can support it with more facts and have knowledge myself on the topic and not just what I get from the web.
Based on our previous class Im at a stage in between commitment and relativism. I feel that I’m in between these two stages because I use my experience as validation towards something but at the same time ill encourage myself to take the risk and if I make a mistake ill accept it because mistakes is a part of critical thinking depending on the situation. Two of my strengths in being a critical thinker is having the ability of being more attentive, mindfulness and curiosity when its comes to being a thinker. I have a mind where curiosity takes over and takes the dare but having the action of paying attention. Another one of my strengths is having a creative problem solving characteristic, using a creative yet affective way to solve a problem is something I’ve manage to do in certain situations. Im a creative person so I will obviously have a creative mindset towards things. Two areas ill say I need some growth in or need to improve on is analytical skills, I need to apply more logic into thinking so I can have the ability to break problems that are complex for me and try to put them into more component parts so that way I can easily break down each part in a much easier way. Another area I need growth in is research and inquiry skills because I regularly don’t ask allot of questions to figure something out and I know but working on this skill it helps boost my way of thinking as a critical thinker.
Based on our discussion in class and the handout of the three classifications of Critical Thinking, I feel I belong to the commitment stage of Critical Thinking. I feel this way because the other two stages show no progress, like a fixed mindset and I am a growth minded person. My two areas of strength to back my claim are,
1. My willingness to accept open feedback. (Enthusiastic to growth.)
2. My ability to give feedback also. (Intrigued to watch someone grow.)
As stated in the Stage 3: Commitment
Students mature and realize that not all thinking is valid
Authorities can be mistaken
Ambiguity and uncertainty are unavoidable
Can make decisions and commitment to particular positions on the basis of reason and evidence
Open to challenge and can change views based on evidence
All attributes of a Growth Mindset. If a student is to reach this stage, I feel that my two areas of strength are the best characteristics to have if they want to advance.
The two areas I feel that I need to grow in are ma being a more active reader and being able to stick to a fitness plan. I plan to read more everyday and seek support from a trainer to advance my fitness.
Based on our class conversations and reading critical thinking is the ability to be able to comment without any judgement. Also analyzing the topic and viewing its pros and cons. Therefore I feel like I’m in Stage 3: Commitment because I am the person that thinks that not everyone’s opinion or thought is going to be the same, not only that I am very open to challenges and can change opinion based on evidence. Previously I used to be in Stage 2: Relativism, what made me change my way of critical thinking was my job working with children has taught me plenty of things a major one was that not everyone can think or be the same as me.
As a result this has shown me that one strength that I have in critical thinking is being open minded because Im able to accept any opinion even if different from mine. Another strength in critical thinking is being objective, making research to obtain a certain information is important besides applying my opinion I always look for evidence to support my idea. Although we can’t rely on research 100% due to self experience and our perspective. Furthermore I need to grow in having curiosity towards my surroundings as growing up I was always thought that being curiosity was being in other people’s business this is something I have not been able to overcome.
Overall a good critical thinker is being able to accept different opinions, able to recognize mistakes especially their own, open to challenge and can make decisions based on research and self experience.

Based on our class conversations and reading, I feel I am in stage two which is “Relativism”. Because according to the definition, “Relativism is the belief that there’s no absolute truth, only the truths that a particular individual or culture happen to believe.” For example, as I believe in relativism, then I think different people can have different views about what’s moral and immoral. In addition, my moral relativism is either my moral judgements are true or false only relative to some particular standpoint. For example, just because corruption is right in some countries doesn’t mean that other countries can’t rightfully condemn it. And as a good critical thinker, it is my ability to think clearly and rationally about what to do or believe. For example, myself with critical thinking skills is able to understand the logical connections between ideas. In conclusion, relativism thinking is a type of thinking that assumes that truth is just a matter of opinion while critical thinking is a type of thinking in which you reflect and analyze when making decisions and solving problems.
Based on our previous class discussions and readings, I think I am in stage 3 which Is commitment because according to the definition of commitment is when students finally begin to realize there are two sides of everything. In my opinion, commitment is always the best way to go. When things get tough, and you are having trouble to work through the problem, think about it, and make some time management. These stages may apply differently for everyone depending on the situations. I used to be a very stubborn person. I would only go with what I experienced and what I thought it was right, but as I’m growing up, I started to realize that you have to look at things from a different point of view and also listen to every side of the story, then make a statement.
Based on our class conversations and readings, the stages of Critical Thinking I fall in between are stages 2 and 3. I say stage 2 growing into stage 3 because I can still be relativism sometimes. I sometimes would not like to challenge anyone views because I think that my views matter. I say growing into stage 3 which is commitment since I can be open to challenges and change views based up on evidence presented, if the subject is something I am passionate about. Two characteristics that are my greatest strength are Collaborative Learning since I am great working in groups of different minded people, having good communication between my peers, having ,my peers evaluate my work, and great problem-solving. Another, strength I believe I have is Research and Inquiry skills which I am evaluating information to reach an conclusion. One area that I feel that I can grow at is analytical skills because sometimes I would not take the time to analyze step by step breaking down information. Another, area that I can grow is flexibility and tolerance for ambiguity because sometimes I am not comfortable with uncertainty, and being unpredictability. I plan on working on being comfortable with uncertainty and being unpredictability as well learning to take my time to break information down step by step.

In stages of critical thinking, I feel like I’m in stage number one, but not always. The reasons why I feel like I’m dualism is because that I when I saw something or circumstances I will think so many other ways. For example, if I saw someone who have so rich but I will think in two ways, maybe this person he have a rich family or he might earn money illegal. Most of time, when I had so much affair I always thinking those that are right or wrong. However, some time I still will using critical thinking to my real life, when I dose things wrong or almost doing something wrong, after it I will be reflecting thinking. Although, I will find my viewpoint and my others opinions are wrong, but not all the time.
In the beginning of this class I really didn’t understand what critical thinking was and how we all related to it . It never occurred to me to really think about this or think of different stages of critical thinking. Based on our class conversation I would say that I am in stage three. And I will say my two strengths are can make decisions and commit to particular position on the basis of reason and evidence and open to challenge and can change views based of evidence. I would really like to grow and work more on authorities can be mistaken by understanding everyone is human and can make mistakes.
The critical thinking stage I would place myself would be in stage 3. I feel maturity is a key role in adulthood . As far as decision making, it is best to hear other people out and vice versa. Also, it is a great thing to be open to various challenges and accepting change. Motivate yourself to do better and also other if needed. Two areas of strength for myself would be open minded skepticism and research. Research is a strong area for me because I personally like to dig deep into a situation. For example, find out more or what kind of information I am missing. Research is a helpful tool to help figure things out more better and clearly. Uncover the hidden facts is all related to doing some research. Find out something new. Or viewing a situation or problem a different way from other. I am personally open minded. Being open minded allows a person to be a free spirit. When you a open minded, you willing to deal with things better and different from other. Open minded people , for example, May try new things or think outside the box . Thinking outside the box requires a person to get out their comfort zone. Being open minded allows these things. I enjoy being open minded because it helps me be free..
I feel I am in stage two which is “Relativism”., “Relativism is based on the idea that no objective or absolute truth because the truth is simply a matter of his/her opinion. For example, I believe in relativism in terms of people’s different views of moral and immoral. To me, moral relativism could be what you believe is either truth/false based on some topic. For example, just because the USA accepts sexual orientation doesn’t mean that some other countries accept it. And as a good critical thinker, it is my ability to think clearly and understand what to do or believe. That why In conclusion, relativism thinking is a type of thinking that assumes that truth is just a matter of opinion while critical thinking is a type of thinking in which you reflect and analyze when making decisions and solving problems.
Based on our readings and class discussions I think I am in stage 1 of critical thinking because I dont usually think everything through when I make a decision of something , I often just do it. In further thinking about the characteristics of a good critical thinker two areas of strength are honesty and being a good communicator. I believe being honest is a good area of strength because in order to be a good critical thinker you have to be honest with every move and thought you make , in order to know if thats what you really want to do. Being a good communicator is also a good area of strength because you have to know how to accept feedback from others and know what they also think about the situation and that begins with communicating.
I personally think I’m in stage one of critical thinking, not everybody thinks the same everybody has their own opinions and it’s good to have some sort of evidence to back up your claims. My two strength is solving problems and follow directions on how to solve the problems.
