Assignment #5 :
Title of the film : My sister’s keeper
Brief (5 to 8 sentences) overview of the plot :
Kate has acute leukemia. Her parents, firefighter Brian and Sara, and older brother Jesse where not a genetic match. They did an in vitro fertilization. This results in the birth of Anna as a savior sister. Right from birth ,Anna spends the next 11 years donating compatible organs, blood, stem cells and tissue to help Kate. Anna has suffered the life of hospitalization. When Kate was 15 she had renal failure and Anna knows that she will be forced by her parents to donate one of her kidneys. Attorney Campbell Alexander agrees to work for Anna as her guardian ad litem, suing for partial termination of parental rights. Kate, not wanting to live any longer, had persuaded Anna to refuse to donate her kidney. Anna had wanted to give Kate her kidney and had been upset at Kate’s decision. Sara is finally forced to acknowledge what Kate has been trying to tell her all this time: she is ready to die. Later that day, Kate dies in her sleep, After her death, Anna has won the case. The family moves on with their lives. Sara, who gave She concludes that she was not born merely to save her sister, she was born because she had a sister, and that their relationship continues even in death.
The moral and/or ethical issues that are presented
The movie presents legal, ethical and moral issues related to long term illness and discusses some of the bioethical issues around the experimental technique known as pre-implantation genetic diagnosis.
The Ethics of Breeding a child for design
Because Kate suffers from leukemia, Kate’s doctor makes an informal suggestion to Kate’s mother about giving birth to another child who could be a savior sibling; this suggestion is made informally because a formal suggestion would constitute a violation of medical and legal ethics and the physician would lose his license to practice medicine.
The Ethics of using a sibling’s body as a supplier for another sibling .
Anna learns that she is going to be asked to donate her kidney to her sister. Her sister requests that she not do so. Anna does not want to donate any body part, so she hires an attorney to sue for partial termination of parental rights. Here the question arises if it is morally correct to make a child donate blood or body parts to a sibling. At one point, the justification for this type of operation is made for Kate .
The rights of the “savior sibling” Does the minor child have the right to deny the parents’ argument that he/she donate cells or organs to the sibling ? Anna hires a lawyer to sue for partial termination of parental rights.
An overview of how these issues affect the characters
Anna thinks that she was born only to keep Kate alive .She feels like she doesn’t belong to the family .
Kate is very sick that she doesn’t mind if she dies because she feels bad for her sister trying to
Help her all the time , donating her organs and her illness is killing her family as well.
With Kate’s illness Sara forgets to take care of Anna and Jesse .
The parents were shocked when they found out Anna took a lawyer to sue her parents for infringement of the rights of her own body .
An overview of how these issues are dealt with
Anna accepted that is going to die because of her cancer . She feels bad for her sister helping her , donating her organs all the time .
The parents were sad for kate and they were trying to save her by bringing another child
To life . The parents wants Anna to help kate by donating her organs all the time without asking her Anna if she really wants to do it . Anna hired a lawyer to help her .
The parents were shocked suspecting Anna to help Kate all the time .
Your reaction to how the issues were developed and dealt with
I understand any parent will do their best to save their kid to survive cancer.
I would try to do my best as well if Kate was my daughter .But I really think the mistake was made since Anna was designed just to save her sister . The parents just thought to bring Anna to life just to save Kate .
Anna didn’t have a normal life as a child and that ‘s not fair to her .I didn’t like the fact that Anna was not asked or excused from giving her organs . Anna was suffering all the time in the hospital trying to save her sister . She was tortured in hospitals .
If I was Sara and Brian I would not force my daughter to donate her organs all the time .Even though it’s so hard to lose Kate . I would not neglect my other kids rights . And I would take care of them equally .
If you faced the same issues, how would you handle them?
As I said I understand any parent will do their best to save their kid to survive cancer.
I would try to do my best as well if Kate was my daughter .But I didn’t like the fact that
Anna was not asked or excused from giving her organs . Anna was suffering all the time in the hospital trying to save her sister and couldn’t enjoy her life as a normal child .
If I was Sara and Brian I would not force my daughter to donate her organs all the time .
Even though it’s so hard to lose Kate . I would not neglect my other kids rights .
And I would take care of them equally .
The title of the film is “Me Before You”. The plot is about a young girl who struggles to find a good paying job to help her family . She lands in a job where she has to help out a young rich man who had a tragedy and ended up paralyzed in a wheel chair and he lived in a very expensive castle. Louisa was very quirky and she dressed in bright colors and patterns which she loved but the traynor family didn’t find ok at first but once they saw how sweet and kind and hard working she was they did not mind . In fact they appreciated the fact that she helped will find life beautiful again because he was giving up and hated it . Will wanted to go out more and have fun !. They both attended his ex girlfriends wedding and left everyone in shock because he brought a date which was Louisa. Then after some time passed will did not want Louisa to stay by his side because he felt like she could get everything she wanted and more from someone else . Louisas morals never changed for one bit she always wanted to help will no matter what. The moral issues that are being presented is that Louisa has to decide whether she wanted to get so involved in wills life more then she already was . The ethics that is being presented is that Will had to contemplate if he wanted to change his attitude towards Louisa and treat her like a young lady and go on dates with her although she was a young poor girl and he was raised in a completely different household and different mentality. These issues affect Louisa because she had to trust a will even though he was rude at first when they met . Will was affected because he had to forget all the things his parents taught him which was to not pay kind to the poor because he lived different but he didn’t care because Louisa showed him love and care nobody else did. I loved the way the issues were dealt with because they cared about each other and nothing else. They weren’t worried about what people thought and just did what made them happy. If I faced these similar issues I would react the same way because you can’t be to caught up on what everyone around you thinks they aren’t living your life you are and that’s why you make your own decisions as long as they make you happy.
Loving(2016)
A couple that were in love regardless of their race. They were so in love they decided to get married. As the husband build his wife a house they were judged by many because they weren’t the same race ,so they were later arrested and brutality harassed during the years. They eventually had a family and having mix babies in the world were prohibited from where they were from (Virginia)So the constantly had to stay protected no matter the horror it caused them.
The ethics issue was their marriage and the moral issue was their race . These issues are developed an encounter during a race that others seen the two kiss after the husband had won. These issues affected the characters in many ways, Putting them in jail ,being separated from each other ,Numerous amount of court days with the Supreme Court. They were dealt with racism and equality .I notice that the wife was locked up more than the husband was and he was just taken away somewhere while she had no say in anything. My reaction was just disturb the fact that interracial couples couldn’t enjoy their love for each other in peace because of a ridiculous law in their hometown and maybe elsewhere was just unfair. I would’ve handle it the same way the wife did she stayed their to race her kids always their for them mad it seem like she wasn’t struggling and fight through it with whatever it takes.
ASSIGNMENT #5
My Sister’s Keeper
The plot in My Sister’s Keeper is that Kate has acute promyelocytic leukemia. Nobody in kate’s family match genetically, Her main doctor Dr.Chance suggested to have another child in order for her to be compatible this resulted in the birth of Anna. Right from birth, Anna spends the next 11 years donating compatible organs, blood, stem cells and tissue to help Kate. Anna has suffered a life of hospitalizations, growth hormone injections, opioid painkillers, sleeping pills, bleeding and infections. Kate, now 15, goes into renal failure and Anna knows that she will be forced by her parents to donate one of her kidneys. Anna also realizes that having one kidney means that her life will be restricted and will be threatened if her remaining kidney ever has an issue. Anna tells her parents that she does not want to be a donor and sues them for medical emancipation and the rights to her own body.
Is that Sarah, Anna’s mother has a right to make medical decisions for her. It is a conflict of interest because Sara is making decisions that save one daughter in expenses of her other daughter’s body. The ethical issue is that if Anna was not created the donations wouldn’t have been able to happen.
These issues are delevelop because Anna’s mom only had her with the purpose to save her sister and isn’t noticing that she’s affecting her while saving Kate.
This Issue affect the Character because the family is falling part since there only focusing on Kate not only that but having 2 different decisions affect the marriage.
The Issue are dealt with having Anna give Kate all the transplant necessary.
I didn’t like how the issue was dealt with because they basically had a child only to help kate without realizing that child is a new life. Also the family was so focused on Kate they forgot about the other kids and Kate ended up dying so the time that could’ve been spent as a family was actually lost.
I would’ve had another child to help Kate but with the condition that the child isnt forced to donate if she doesn’t want to. Not only that I would make decisions together with my husband. Also spending time with my other kids so they wouldn’t feel like I love only one child.
Title of the film: Searching.
A brief overview of the plot: David Kim tries contacting her 16-year-old daughter Margot Kim after Margot tries to contact him from the night she went missing. David Kim becomes desperate when his 16- year-old daughter wouldn’t reply back after a couple of hours. David starts contacting the police for help and hopes to solve the case of a missing person. After that David became more and more desperate because of an immediate police investigation leads to nowhere, so he took the case to his own hands and decides to search the one place that no one else has, which is Margot’s laptop. The devices we use every day to communicate and found multiple clues on the day Margot went missing, which lead him to the Crime secen and found multiple evidence and resource, that help him solve his daughter’s case, but that wasn’t the main places to look at. It was the laptop that solves the cases, and help him find his daughter. After the Police declared Margot is dead, David click onto the funeral home page and figure out that the person on the front cover of the funeral home page was the same person who been talking to Margot, so David try to find the contact of that person after he found the contact he calls her and found out the police never reach out to her, which David already told the detective that was handling his case. David then contacts the police station to figure out that Rosemary the detective wasn’t assigned to his case, she volunteer to help. From there David found the person who they said killed his daughter was a cover-up for Detective son, which accidentally push Margot off the cliff. They arrested Rosemary, but that didn’t stop David from saving his daughter, which he did and went to the crime secen where Rosemary’s son pushed Margot off the cliff and found still alive.
The Moral that is presented: Is that people usually do not notice all of the good things in their lives until they are lost.
Margot’s mother passed out which cause her to do a lot of unusual things, like skipping class and going to a place that’s isn’t safe for a girl to go to and hangout by themself. It was the father’s fault too for not focusing on his daughter and focus too much on his wife’s death.
Margot and David became really upset about the fact Pamela, David’s wife, and Margot’s mother death. That threw them off their life.
Margot went missing was the reason that made David think their’s more to life and he needs to focus more on his daughter and his life, not Pamela’s death. Margot’s learned that a lot too from the experience of almost losing her life because she wasn’t communicating with her father and let the feeling of her mother death get in the way of her thinking.
I think the issues were developed because David wasn’t giving enough attention to his daughter and David wasn’t helping her daughter to get over the fact that her mother has passed away and she can’t be bought back to life and she needs to continue focusing in life. But I love how David did whatever it takes to find his daughter and bought her back from death.
If that happens to me I will do what David did, because nothing in the world is more important than your own family.

Trading Places
The movie is based on a stock associate that works for two brothers, one of them is greedy for gain, and the other is full haste. The associate stumbles into a known con artist by accident while leaving is work building and assumes that he is trying to mug him. In reaction to the assumption the con artist runs off in panic trying to avoid the conflict of explaining the behavior to the police. He ends up running into the building were the associate works and being captured by the police. The marketing brothers witness the arrest and are made known of the type of past the con artist has had. They become involved with a bet based on their beliefs of how their associate would react to such a way of life as the con artist has lived. They offer the con artist a Job, a New Home and a New Car with an $80,000 salary. As for the associate they go as far as setting the stock associate up as a thief and a drug dealer by planting marked bills and drugs in his jacket, through an unknown source. They feel this will give him the experience from the con artist life sparking the thrill of the bet.
After accepting the offer from the two brothers, the con artist continuously questions the validity of the brother’s generosity. As they reassure him that they are truthful he begins to experience what his new life is going to be like. He starts wearing expensive suits and cloths. Treats his friends to an evening on the towns pub and holds an after party at his new house. As he attends the party, he realizes that his friends don’t have the same manners towards him as he does for them. They littered and spilt beers on his floors and carpets. They also didn’t use any coasters for their drinks leaving marks on his tables. He ends up getting frustrated by their behavior and ends the party by sending everyone home. On his first day of work he noticed that things were becoming weird after noticing the stock associate that tried to stereotype him after the bumping in a taxi next to the car, he was being driven in. His new driver has to give him a bunch of inspiration to help him shake off the complexities of the experience. He becomes a helping hand that day by buying their stock before the price dropped to its lowest value.
As for the associate as he is being booked for his theft charge the police find an ounce of cocaine in powder form in is inner jacket pocket bringing about a slew of new charges for him. He is outraged by the assumption that he is a drug dealer and refutes any ownership of the drugs. He starts to live with a prostitute that was paid to ruin his relationship with his girlfriend the day he made bail. Upon reading the headlines of the next day’s paper he becomes enraged with the achievements of the con artist and plans to seek revenge at the annual Christmas party. He sneaks into his old office and tries to plant drugs in the desk of con artist in leu of getting his job back. After being discovered he becomes violent and threatens his way out of securities custody just to be noticed staggering out of the building a few minutes later by the con artist. He makes it back to the prostitute’s apartment and rushes to the bathroom where he falls out in the tub unconscious overdosing on medicine.
As the con artist follows the associate back to the prostitute’s apartment, he discovers the associate passed out in the tube with medicine all over the floor. He and the prostitute arrange for him to be taken back to his new house and provide medical attention. Once the associate is aware of his surroundings, he becomes enraged at the con artist who explains to him that the reason he has been going through the past events as such is because his two bosses were using the two of them as Guinea pigs in a bet. They end up becoming a team and seeking revenge by providing the wrong stock selling price in a secret document from an outside source working for the two brothers. The same secret source that planted the drugs and marked bills in the associate’s jacket. It made them value more than what was necessary and lose a lot of money.
The moral and ethical issues from this movie were the showing of pride, stereotyping, trust, manners, gambling, cruelty, racism, and bullying These issues didn’t have much of an effect on the con artist because his aura showed that he could do or say something much more hurtful than what was presented in the attack on his emotions. The associate was disturbed by these events every time they surfaced. He defended himself with the upmost integrity, and respect that he could. These issues were dealt with in a shrewd and innocence manner each and every time and they were overcome each time.
I feel that the issues that arose in this movie were well delivered. I feel that they were dealt with in a very determined manner.
If I was faced with these issues, I would be forced to seek assistance. I feel dealing with issues of such would be rough to overcome if I put my shoulder to them alone.
Airline pilot Captain William “Whip” Whitaker Sr. uses cocaine to wake up after a night of little sleep in his Orlando hotel room. He pilots SouthJet Flight 227 to Atlanta, which experiences severe turbulence at takeoff. Co-pilot Ken Evans takes over while Whip discreetly mixes vodka in his orange juice and falls asleep at the controls. He is jolted awake as the plane goes into a steep dive.
Meanwhile, heroin addict Nicole Maggen is on the verge of being evicted. She overdoses on heroin and has to be wheeled out of the house by a paramedic. SouthJet Flight 227 flies inverted overhead in the midst of its rapid descent. Unable to regain control, Whip is forced to make a controlled crash landing in an open field, losing consciousness on impact.
Whip awakens in an Atlanta hospital with moderate injuries and is greeted by his old friend Charlie Anderson, who represents the airline’s pilots union. He tells Whip that he managed to save 96 out of 102, losing two crew members and four passengers, but mentions his copilot is in a coma. Whip sneaks away for a cigarette in the stairwell and meets Nicole, who is recovering from her heroin overdose in the same hospital. The next morning, his friend and drug dealer Harling Mays picks him up from the hospital.
Having retired to his late father’s farm, Whip meets Charlie and attorney Hugh Lang, who explain that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) performed a drug test while he was unconscious. Results showed that Whip was intoxicated during the flight. Hugh promises to get the toxicology report voided on technical grounds. Meanwhile, Whip visits and soon becomes intimate with Nicole, but Whip’s drinking habits clash with Nicole’s attempts to stay drug-free. Later at a crew member, Trina’s, funeral, he attempts to persuade a surviving flight attendant, Margaret Thomason, to tell the NTSB that he was sober.
Whip pays a visit to his co-pilot Ken Evans after he awakens from his coma. Evans has likely lost much of his ability to walk and may never pilot an airplane again. Although upset, Evans has no intention of telling the NTSB that Whip was drinking. Nicole decides to separate from Whip, following his failed attempts to stay sober. Hounding Whip, the media catches him drunk after he spontaneously drives to the home of his ex-wife and son, both of whom resent him. He stays with Charlie until the NTSB hearing, vowing not to drink. The night before the hearing, Charlie and Hugh move Whip to a guarded hotel room with no alcohol. Although his minibar is empty, he finds the door to an adjacent room unlocked and raids its minibar instead.
Whip is discovered by Charlie the next morning, passed out and still drunk. Harling is called, who revives him with cocaine. At the hearing, lead NTSB investigator Ellen Block explains that a damaged elevator assembly jackscrew was the primary cause of the crash. She commends Whip on his valor and skill and notes that no other pilot was able to land the plane in trial simulations of the crash. She then reveals that two empty vodka bottles were found in the plane’s trash, despite the fact that beverages had not been served to passengers due to the severe turbulence, and that Whip’s test was excluded for technical reasons. The only other member of the crew to test positive for alcohol was Trina, who died in the crash, and with whom Whip had spent the night before. Whip, unable to bring himself to blame Trina for his actions, admits to being intoxicated the day of the crash. Whip is then arrested.
Thirteen months later, an imprisoned Whip tells a support group of fellow inmates that he is glad to be sober and does not regret doing the right thing. Whip is seen looking at pictures of Nicole, family, and friends on the wall of his cell, along with greeting cards congratulating him on being sober for a year. He is working to rebuild his relationship with his son, who visits to talk with him about a college application essay on “the most fascinating person that I’ve never met.” His son begins by asking, “Who are you?” As a plane flies overhead, Whip replies, “That’s a good question.”
If I faced the same situation, I would rather tell the truth, give myself to the authority and work out things between my family and I instead of lying and drinking while facing the issue or if I prefer to lie, I should follow the instructions given by my lawyer just to get rid of it.

An overview of how these issues are developed
An overview of how these issues affect the characters
An overview of how these issues are dealt with
Your reaction to how the issues were developed and dealt with
If you faced the same issues, how would you handle them?
The Moral and/or ethical issues that are presented: The parent will do everything to cover up of the children’s mistake, even though the parent is a law enforcement official.
No matter who, everyone will make mistakes. Even if you are the police.
I think because margot had on the verge of death, and her father almost lose his daughter, after all the difficulties, they will be more interflow and comprehend.
If I faced the same issues, I would like to communicate and say the truth to sloves, and not to cover it up.
Title of the film: upgrade

He prefers the old fashion ways of things, and is to why he’s an old fashion car mechanic. Soon later he becomes paralyzed and his wife was murdered. The both was attacked by mercenaries ordered by unknown party. Since the incident gray didn’t want to live cause life was meaningless without his wife. Soon later a man named Aaron offered him another chance to walk again, put meaning back to his life. He planted an AI chip in his spine called stem, that help him walk and feel again. The AI communicates with gray and only he can hear it. With stem he seeks revenge for his wife and discovers the truth of it all.
Moral and/or ethical issue: gray soon learn taking a life for another life isn’t going to bring his wife back. But once he found the group of mercenaries there was no turning back from all the gruesome killings he had done. He let stem take control and regret the AI doing so, having no control over your own body and letting a machine doing all the harm.
Overview of how these issues develop: grays desperation to seek the truth of why him and his wife was attacked led a trail of bodies, and also PD investigating him and his whereabouts.
My sister’s keeper
This film was talk about a couple with a son and a daughter , but they find out that their daughter Kate got leukemia and all of the family member’s leukin antigen are not match with her. They follw doctor’s opinion to born a new baby by using IVF. And it’s very successful, the new girl named Anna. She gave everything her sister need to keep her alive. One day Kate was on kidney failure and she need Anna to donate one of her kidney, Anna didn’t follw them this time, she think her parent are abuse her body. So she accuse her mother abuse her body. Druing this time, her sister Kate fall in love with another boy who got Leukemia, but he dead. And so many things happen druing this time. At the end Anna win, and she decide to not donate her kidney. But she die in a car accident, and doctor take her kidney to save Kate and many other people. And her parent are still sad even Kate get well.
I think here we have 2 ethical issue on this case, one is Anna decide help her sister or not, is about sister and self. another one is two daughters. Parent born Anna with purpose and don’t really care about her feeling, they want Anna to save Kate, but they still unhappy after Kate got well. I think this is why we have those issue in this case.
This issue make Anna and her brother lost parent’s love when they are child, and make family be sad, mother lose her mind and only think about Kate. It’s very sad when Anna’s mother use her as a tool to save her sister.
Anna find the lawyel to stop her mother and she win, she has rights to decide what to do or not to do.
I thought Anna will donate her kidkey even she win the case, because Kate was her sister. But she didn’t, It’s kind surprise me. However, to think more deeply, Anna should have chance to decide not to save her sister because in her mind, she did everything for Kate and lost everything because Kate.
If i was the mother, i will did the same which is born Anna to save Kate, but i will feel sorry to Anna and take care her more. Also, ask her before we need something from her. They feel pain and scare those things when they are child, as parent we need to take care of their heart. If I was Anna, I will still donate my kidney to my sisther even i win the case, but no more. We are sister, but I did a lot for you already.

Title of the movie “ Loving “
Mildred and Richard Loving are an Lower class interreacial couple who were in love and took steps to legally be married in the 1950s. Growing up in a small town located in Virginia during this era it was still racism and segregation laws that forbid the two lovers to be together because of their differences in Ethnicity . The couple didn’t let opinions stop them from being together but as the further the relationship went they were arrested just for simply being in a relationship .The couple was sent to court after being in jail and was sentenced to be banned from their hometown for 25 years or they will be sentenced to prison . Mildred and Richard continued to fight to be together they moved to Washington , DC to expand their family and found many ways to go back to Virginia .Eventually Mildred was home sick and she decided to reach out to a few attorney’s that could help her and Richard’s case get noticed and brought to the attention of the Supreme Court Law . Many people encouraged the couple to fight for their rights and was by their side until justice was served and eventually it became the case of Loving VS Virginia .The Moral and Ethic views that are presented in the film are Mildred and Richard abiding by the law and leaving the state they are from , Being patient and trying to adjust to their new life in Washington DC by having two more kids , Richard continuing work and remaining together Never giving up even when their frredom was at risk . These issues are developed by the Law looking to lock them up every time they would come to Virginia because of the fact that they were banned. The Lawyer that was hired did not tell them that they still was not allowed back into the town for the birth of their first child . His morals showed when he came clean to the judge hearing their case by admitting that he did not tell the Loving’s that they can’t come back even for the birth of their first child . These issues effects the characters because they feel discouarged and singled out just because they chose to be in a relationship together , society didn’t accept them even in their own hometown . These issues are dealt with by the Loving’s meeting with an attorney that is for their fight to win the case , setting up interviews, photoshoots with magazine’s to get their cased revealed and brought to light . The Loving’s were sent to return to Virginia to live while working on this case to see if they were going to be locked up so that way the supreme court can see this unruly treatment . My reaction to how the issues were developed and dealt with were skeptical at first for some reason I just thought it was a trap .I didn’t have hope because almost everyone they encountered in the law system was against their relationship.Once I realized Cohen was a genuine person who wanted justice just as much as Mildred and Richard did I felt relieved . If I faced the same issues I would just go far away from my hometown and try to start fresh somewhwere that would accept my family and I , that pressure of having to watch my back to be with my own husband in the comfort of my own home would devestate me and I would not have the strength to keep trying to prove that were human just like everyone else regardless of our differences.

While Co-pilot Evans takes over the plane, Captain William secretly mixes Vodka in his orange juice after sniffing cocaine before take off. Captain William falls asleep on the controls and wakes up to a plane going down. Issues were developed throughout the film. Captain William or better know as Denzel Washington, has a alcohol and drug problem in the film. Falling asleep on the controls is a key point to all the issues throughout the movie. All because Captain William was drunk before flying the plane. Even though, many passengers were terrified of the planes dramatic diving, Captain Williams still managed to land the plane , saving 96 people ,in a open field shortly after losing consciousness due to the planes crashing impact. Six people died Whips plane and his Co-pilot may never walk again. Captain Whips drinking habits is a reason why the plane went down in the first place. Captain Whip didn’t want to take responsibility for the crash at the beginning, trying to convince a flight attendant to say he was sober. Eventually Captain William confesses to being drunk the day of the crash & is later arrested and put in jail. My reaction to Captain William’s action is disappointing. Due to the fact he had other people’s lives in his hands and throw it all away because of his own drinking problems. Captain William should be held completely responsible for his actions. To do drugs, drink, and fly a plane with other people’s lives at stake is not okay.
12 years a slave
12 years a slave is a movie years before the civil war . A man named Solomon Northup who was a free black from upstate NY who was a musician. During his time in Washington to play he was setup and got caught by slave catchers. They took him and sold him into slavery in the south. During his time at a new home as a slave he found many cruel men and also kind hearted people . As years go by his life comes back to normal in his 12th as a slave and was once again a freeman. After missing out on his children growing up and missing the birth of his grandchild he was still fill with joy because he is reunited with his family.
The moral or ethical issues that are presented relates to the problems of how slavery affects even those who are free and living as a free man . It shows in the movie how it didn’t matter if your free or not if your a different skin color your going to end up as a slave.
How these issues affect the character is that his freedom was stripped from him and because he was a slave for 12 years he missed out important parts of his life . He missed his children grow up and also important aspects of his children’s life , the birth of his grandkids and watch them grow up to get married.
The way this was dealt with was a man came to his rescue by a abolitionist from Canada changed the characters life forever
How i reacted towards how the issues were developed and dealt with was that i was upset on how people set this free man up to go into slavery a man with a family a wife and kids all that he was taken away from because he wanted to make money to help his family and also he wanted to play music and the way it was dealt with even though he patiently waited and accepted his life as a slave he was saved and it hit a soft spot. He was once again free and back with his family but now they were much older.
If i was in this situation i would do anything to stay alive . During those times it was rough but everyone did everything they could do to live and just like the character Solomon i would’ve waited and waited till i was saved.
Movie Title: Hacksaw Ridge
The extraordinary true story of noncombatant Desmond T. Doss who saved 75 men in Okinawa, during the bloodiest battle of WWII, without firing a single shot. Believing that the war was just but killing was nevertheless wrong, he was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon. As an army medic Doss single-handedly evacuated the wounded near enemy lines – braving enemy fire and putting his own life on the line. He was the first noncombatant to ever earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. Courage Is Contagious in many ways even though people doubt you. For example, “Glover tells Doss that the men won’t go up without him. We then see the moving scene where the whole company paused for Doss to pray before heading up”. They don’t necessarily believe what he believes but because he believes and they believe in him, his prayer matters. Although Doss’ religious beliefs play a big part in his character and his travails, it’s not his defining characteristic. Rather, this element contributes to the larger picture of “Good Man goes to war,” and to me Private Doss was a “Good Man” not just because these choices are simple, but because he has values. His steadfast moral core drives him. It drives him to put himself in harm’s way, virtually defenseless because as much as he doesn’t want to harm others, he wants to help others even more. It drives him to become a medic because medicine is the best way for him to aid people, regardless of what country or army they belong to. (There is a moment where he provides relief to a wounded Japanese soldier.) It drives him to face down adversity because he knows there are some greater truths that he must subscribe to become the best Good Man he could be. There was always going to be an issue to doss was going to face due to him not carrying a gun. He was beaten at night, captain jack clover and the other captain punishes him(cleaning the bathroom, not eating and was not allow to get married) and then was jailed for disobeying his captain orders. Those issues never affect him because all he wanted was to go to the battle zone and save people. He never gave hope, he never wanted to quit the force even though those punish brought him down he never quit. All the issues just made him strong in many ways.
